Week 04: Peace & Worship

As we closed out this year’s time in Advent, we looked at a handful of dimensions of Advent peace, or shalom, in the life of Joseph. One thing we learn about peace in the Christmas story is how it is found in the remarkable or miraculous ordinary. That God’s peace is blooming up all around us if we only have the eyes to see it. As we move into the next two weeks without gathering as Collective Church, consider how your a carve out time on the next two Sundays to enter into worship .

“Listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery it is. In the boredom and pain of it, no less than in the excitement and gladness: touch, taste, smell your way to the holy and hidden heart of it, because in the last analysis all moments are key moments, and life itself is grace.”

- Frederick Buechner, Now and Then: A Memoir of Vocation

Practice: Plan for Christmas & New Years worship

  • Set aside time this week to plan for the next two Sundays.

  • Compile a list of readings from Scripture, or one longer passage.

  • Pray through a Psalm or written Prayer

  • Play a Song to Sing together

  • Consider any other aspects of worship for this time: lighting candles, reading a children’s book, blessing family members
