Our Beliefs
We believe the Bible to be the inspired and authoritative Word of God. As such, this library of books composes the trustworthy and sufficient story of life and salvation in the Kingdom of God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21; 1 Corinthians 2:13; Mark 12:26,36; 13:11; Acts 1:16).
We believe in one God, Creator and King of all things, who eternally exists in the loving unity of three equally divine distinct Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and that these three, having the same nature, and perfections, are worthy of all worship, confidence, and obedience. (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30)
We believe humanity was created, male and female, in the image of God, thus entrusted with the unique honor and glory of partnering with God as royal stewards and representatives for this good world. However, as a result of humanity’s rebellion from God, our royal vocation has been corrupted, we now live under the reign of Sin and death. We are lost, alienated from God, and incapable of truly restoring ourselves or our world. (Genesis 1:26; Psalm 8; Romans 3, 5:12-19; Ephesians 2:1-3, 4:18-19).
We believe the Gospel is that Jesus the true king: who preexisted as God the Son, was sent by God the Father, became human in fulfillment of God’s promises, righteous in obedience to the Law, died for our sins, was buried, was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, appeared to many witnesses, is enthroned at the right hand of God as the ruling Messiah, has sent God the Spirit to his people to effect his rule, and will come again as final judge to rule. (Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:14, 8:40,58, 11:33; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 5:8-10, 10:9–13; Colossians 1:15-17; Hebrews 1:8).
We believe that those who respond to the Gospel in faith (as shown in a confession of sin and Jesus’ lordship through baptism) have not only been awakened by the Holy Spirit but also unified together with Jesus. This union incorporates us into our Messiah’s righteous status and the family of God, as members one of another we are responsible to keep the unity of the Holy Spirit in the bond of peace, loving one another with a pure heart. (Acts 2:38; Ephesians 2:4–22, 4:1-3; 2 Corinthians 5:21)
We believe the Church is the Spirit-indwelled and empowered family of God, given to the world to proclaim and present the Kingdom of God in word, deed, and sacrament (namely, baptism and the Lord’s Supper). (Matthew 28:16–20, Mark 16:16, Acts 1:4–8; 1 Corinthians 11:26)
We believe in the physical resurrection of both the saved and the lost: those who are saved unto the resurrection of life with this world, and those who are lost unto the resurrection of judgment (Romans 8:23; 1 Corinthians 15, Psalm 90:3-4; Revelation 20:12-15; Matthew 25:31-46).
