Has your mom or dad ever said to you, “Come on, put on your shoes. It’s time to go!”?
Having your shoes on means you’re ready to go right? Everyone wears shoes…well, not everyone, but if you want to run fast or stand for a long time, you need shoes. In Ephesians, it says to put on the shoes of the gospel of peace.
Do you know what Gospel means?
The Gospel means GOOD NEWS!
What about peace? Do you know what peace means?
Peace means staying calm and trusting God even when everything around us is crazy. It’s hard to have peace when things are going wrong or when we feel afraid.
Have you ever been afraid? Why?
How did you feel?
God wants to give his people peace even when they are afraid or things are crazy or going wrong. He promises to take care of them and that keeps them calm.
If you knew God would always take care of you, how would it make you feel?
Pretty awesome, right? If you felt that way, wouldn’t you want other people to feel that way too? Wouldn’t you want them to have God’s peace?
I would! And that’s what it means to put on the SHOES OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE. It means being READY to tell people about the good news and about PEACE that only God can give. It means telling them that they can trust that God will take care of them NO MATTER WHAT!
So put on your shoes and be ready to tell people the GOOD NEWS of the GOSPEL of PEACE!
