The Armor of God - The Sword of the Spirit

What is the last piece of the Armor of God?
It’s the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT. Ummm, God wants me to carry around a sword? A ghost sword?? No, no, no. In Ephesians 6:17, it says that the sword of the Spirit is the WORD of GOD.
Do you know what the word of God is?
The word of God is the BIBLE! Did you know that every word in the Bible is from God? It is, I promise!
God sent the Holy Spirit to men who loved Him and gave them the words to write down. You may have heard of some of these guys. Matthew, Mark and Paul are just a few. Paul wrote a lot of the books in the Bible!
And the Bible is the best weapon that Christians can use to defeat the enemy. That’s why it’s called the SWORD of the SPIRIT!
Do you remember who God’s ENEMY is?
It’s Satan. He’s that really, really mean guy. He tries to trick people into making bad choices. He wants people to be mean, scared, super sad and to think that God doesn’t love them.
But God doesn’t want those things. He wants people to be joyful, to have peace and to love other people. He wants the people that love him to use the BIBLE to fight Satan. There are all sorts of ways to do this!
When God’s people are afraid, they can remember Isaiah 41:10:
“Fear not for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God;”
Or when God’s people are worried, they can remember Philippians 4:6-7:
“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Or when they think God will stop loving them, they can remember Romans 8:39:
“nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
If you love God and believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose again, the Bible is your greatest weapon! You have to read it, try to understand it, memorize it and share it!
Nothing that comes at you will be able to stop you if you have the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT because it’s God’s word!
