What makes a person important or special?
Do you feel important or special? Why or why not?
One of the many amazing things about Jesus is that he doesn’t have favorites. He doesn’t love one person more than another person.
What about you? Do you have a favorite person?
Have you ever treated one friend different than another friend because you liked them more?
Jesus loves everyone and ANYONE can come to him, but in the bible story today, the disciples didn’t think that.
What did the disciples do when the children wanted to see Jesus? (Mark 10:13)
What did Jesus tell the disciples? (Mark 10:14)
The disciples rebuked the people. They didn’t want the children bothering Jesus. Maybe they didn’t think the children were important enough or that Jesus had enough time for them.
Has your brother or sister or even a friend ever said to you, “Leave me alone, you are bothering me!”?
How did that make you feel?
Sometimes people make us feel sad. Maybe you’ve even made someone else feel sad by saying that you don’t have time for them or that they are bothering you.
Guess what though? You can never bother Jesus. He will always, always have time for you because YOU ARE IMPORTANT to him. He wants you to talk to him anytime. He loves it when you come to him.
And you know what is really cool? At the end of the story, God tells the disciples to be more like children. Say what?! That’s right. God wants adults to be more like kids. He wants us to be more like you!! That must mean you are pretty important to him!
