Have you ever gone to a party or a celebration?
What was it like? Did you have food? Fun drinks?
This week, we are talking about Passover. It’s a celebration, kind of like a party, to remember something pretty amazing that God did.
Do you know what it is? Think about the video you just watched.
Passover is a celebration of God rescuing the Israelites, but it’s also about God rescuing YOU and ME!
Have you ever watched a superhero show or movie where someone was in danger or trouble and needed to be rescued?
What did the superhero do do rescue the person? Did they try everything they could to save the person?
How did the person in danger act when they were rescued?
They are usually pretty excited and thankful to be rescued! And nothing could stop that superhero from rescuing the person, right?!
Did you know that you and me need to be rescued too?
We need to be rescued from our sin. Sin makes God really, really sad. It makes our hearts yucky and leads to death. God wanted to rescue us from sin so he sent Jesus to die for us to make our hearts clean.
Just like the blood over the doors saved the Israelites, Jesus’ blood saves us!
Isn’t that great news?
Don’t you think it’s worth celebrating?
Don’t you think we should dance and sing and eat food and partaaaay because of that?
That celebration is Passover! Let’s celebrate that God rescued the Israelites AND that he rescued you and me by sending us our very own superhero…JESUS!
