  • What do you wash when you take a bath or a shower?

  • Do you ever clean the inside of your body? Do you think your inside is dirty?

The prayer in Psalm 51:10 says, “Create in me a clean heart…”

  • Can you wash your heart like you wash your stinky toes and your dirty hair when you take a bath?

Our hearts are dirty with sin and they have to be cleaned. We can’t wash our heart with soap though. We need to Jesus to give us a clean heart.

  • What kind of sin do you have in your heart? Do you ever get angry? Do you ever hit your brother or sister?

When we do things like disobey our parents or say mean things to others, we sin and it makes our hearts dirty. The only way to get it clean is to ask Jesus for forgiveness. When we do, our hearts are clean again.

  • Read 1 Samuel 16:7 together.

  • What does man look at?

  • What does God look at?

God doesn’t care if your hair is dirty or your feet are stinky. He cares about your heart!

This week, when you take a bath, think about how you can clean not just your stinky toes and your dirty hair, but your heart. Ask Jesus to forgive your sin and your heart will be squeaky clean!!

Dirty to Clean Heart

Heart Template HERE

Cut out heart and color. Laminate with scotch tape and make sure the edges are taped up well so water doesn’t get in.

Children can use washable marker or dry erase markers to make the hearts dirty or write some sins on the heart. Then, use soap and water to clean the heart.

Do this together at bath time or at the end of the day to talk about sin and ask Jesus to forgive any sin in their hearts.
