Play A Game

  • Hide and Seek

  • Hidden Treasure - hide objects around the house and try to find them

Read

Read Jeremiah 29:11-13 with your child(ren).

Discuss

  • What does it mean to seek? Think about what you did in the game you played.

Seeking just means searching for something! If you played one of the games above with your family, you were probably looking around a whole lot, maybe even moving things around, opening doors, right? So what does this have to do with the Bible or God?

  • Read Jeremiah 29:13 again together

  • In the verse, how does it say to find God?

You have to seek Him! You have to look for Him. In the verse, it says we have to seek Him with all of our heart. Hmmm, what does that mean?

It means putting God first in our lives. Watch the video below to learn more about that.

  • So, how do we put God first?

We can talk to Him by praying, we can read our bible to learn more about Him and we can talk to other people who put God first to learn from them.

When we put God first, we are seeking Him with all of our hearts. And you know what?! He promises that if we seek Him, WE WILL FIND HIM! He is not hiding.

  • If you seek God when you are scared, He will be with you.

  • If you seek God when you are sad, He will be with you.

  • If you seek God when you don’t know what to do, He will be with you.

We will ALWAYS FIND GOD when we search for Him!

  • Put together a large treasure hunt/scavenger hunt. Talk about how the excitement and the joy of finding items is the same as searching for God and finding Him. Encourage kids to think about reading the bible as a treasure hunt to find out more about who God is!

  • Go through Jeremiah 29:11-12 more in depth. Talk about how God has good plans for us and how he hears us when we pray.
