How Big is God's Love?

Read the NIV version of Ephesians 3:18-19 below with your child(ren).
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

What is the BIGGEST thing you have ever seen or can think of?
Do you think God’s love for us is bigger than that?
What is the TALLEST thing you have ever seen or can think of?
Do you think God’s love for us is taller than that?
What is the LONGEST think you have ever seen or can think of?
Do you think God’s love for us is longer than that?
How DEEP do you think the ocean is?
Do you think God’s love for us is deeper than the ocean?
The answer to all of these questions is YES! God’s love for me and for you and for everyone on earth is bigger and taller and deeper than ANYTHING we have ever seen or can think of!
In Psalm 108:4 it says that God’s love goes higher than the heavens and his faithfulness reaches to the clouds! Whoaaa, that’s really up there!
Isn’t that crazy?! God’s love for us is taller than the tallest mountain on earth! It’s deeper than the ocean! That’s really, really, really, REALLY deep!!
If God’s love is sooo big and sooo deep, do you think it could ever run out?
That’s a big fat NO! God’s love could NEVER run out. It doesn’t matter what you do. You could do a bunch of good stuff. You could do a bunch of bad stuff. It wouldn’t matter. God will still love you with a BIG and DEEP love!
And God did something really amazing to show us how much he loves us.
Do you know what it was? Read John 3:16 for the answer.
God loved the world and everyone in it soooo much that he sent Jesus die for our sins. He gave up his only son because he loves us so much. That’s a whole lot of love, don’t you think?! I do.
So this week, take a look around you. Find the tallest building. Look up at the sky. Google the highest mountain. And remember that God’s love is bigger and taller and deeper than it all! We could never measure how much he loves us! It’s just too much!!

God’s Love is Higher or Deeper Crafts
Higher than the Mountains
Cut a paper plate in half and make sure the rounded part it as top.
Rip off pieces of tissue paper or construction paper and glue to plate in layers to make mountains.
Cut out one strip of paper and a heart and glue the heart to the top of the strip.
Glue the strip to the back of plate to show that God’s love is HIGHER than the mountains!
Deeper than the Oceans
Cut a paper plate in half and make sure the flat part it as the top.
Rip off pieces of tissue paper or construction paper to make waves.
Cut out one strip of paper and a heart and glue the heart to the top of the strip.
Glue the strip to bottom of the plate to show that God’s love is DEEPER than the ocean. Maybe even draw fish and other creatures in the ocean too!
