Easter is not about the Easter bunny or Easter eggs. It’s about Jesus, our hero who died for us and for our sins. Take some time to explain what sin is. ie. Mistakes we make like yelling at our brother/sister or hitting our mom or dad.
Sin separates us from God. This means that we can’t be with him. Talk about how it feels right now in isolation to be apart from someone we love, like our grandma/grandpa or friends. This is the feeling of being separated.
God wants to be with us so he sent his son, Jesus to die for us AND to come back to life 3 days later. Talk about how crazy that must have been. Do you know anyone who can come back to life?!?
Jesus’ death seemed like a hopeless situation and everyone was sad, but then he rose to life again and that is why we celebrate.
The words/concepts below were touched on in the video and text that your child(ren) heard but may not fully understand. We encourage you to discuss them.

In the Tomb, Out of the Tomb
Place a long piece of tape on the floor to divide the playing area. Designate the right side of the line as “in the tomb” and the other side of the tape as “out of the tomb.” Stand on the “out of the tomb” side, and have the children face you while standing in the “in the tomb” side of the line. When you call out either “in the tomb” or “out of the tomb,” the children should jump to the side you have called. Make it extra challenging by picking up the pace and calling out the same side several times before switching. You can make it tricky by pointing to one side while calling out the other.
