Do you know what the word GRACE means?
In the Bible, GRACE means God’s free gift of kindness and love to us that we didn’t do anything to earn.
Have you ever gotten in trouble before?
What was the consequence? Did you lose screen time? Did you have to go to your room? Did you have to skip ice cream or a treat?
Whatever you did, you probably deserved to lose screen time or miss out on a treat, right? What if that didn’t happen?
What if you got into trouble, you were forgiven and then you still got the treat or screen time?
How would that make you feel?
I don’t know about you, but I would be surprised and feel pretty thankful. I would be asking, “What did I do to deserve forgiveness and to be so loved?”
This is how God’s GRACE works. We don’t have to do anything to get it. It’s FREE! Did you hear that?
Have you ever had to do chores around the house?
What did you get for doing chores? Did you get a reward?
When I was little, I did chores to get money and then I saved the money to buy a fun toy. That’s called EARNING. It means you do something to get something else. Your parents go to work to earn money. They have to WORK to get the reward.
Read Ephesians 2:8-9
What words are missing from the sentence below

We have been rescued from our sin and this is a FREE GIFT from God. It has nothing to do with WORKS or what we can do to earn it.
God sent his son, Jesus, to die for our sins because he loved us soooooo much. He didn’t do it because you did all your chores. He didn’t do it because you made good grades. He did it because he loves you!!
Nothing you could do would make God take his love away from you. You don’t have to do anything extra to make him love you more. Isn’t that amazing!! Thank God this week for his GRACE and LOVE!
